Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
Glass enamel is a fine, paint-like substance made of powdered glass—when fired, it fuses to the surface and becomes permanent. It’s a beautiful way to add rich detail and contrast to glasswork.
In this two-day workshop, you’ll work with both transparent and opaque glass, layering black enamel paint to create a striking 10” x 10” kiln-fired fused-glass platter.
On day one, you’ll get familiar with the tools, learn how kiln firing works, and design your base piece. After an overnight firing, you’ll return on day two to refine and enhance your work with fine black glass enamel—adding detail, depth, and dimension.
Working with enamel is a meditative, expressive process—perfect for exploring pattern and line, or letting your instincts take over with organic, abstract forms.
This class is for ages 14 and up.
