Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
Want to get into cosplay but not sure where to start? Whether you’ve got a big idea or just want to learn the tools of the trade—professional and DIY—this cosplay makerspace is for you.
With expert guidance, plenty of space, and all the right tools, you’ll bring your costumes, wigs, and props to life. New or returning students with sewing and tool experiences can get a head start on sketching, drafting patterns, planning materials, etc. Instructor will work with you wherever you are
Here’s what you’ll learn: * Class 1: How to create paper patterns for foam and sewing projects, plus how to safely cut foam with X-Acto knives and use hot glue gun. * Class 2: How to safely use a sewing machine. * Class 3: Safety tips for using Dremel tools and hand saws. * Class 4: How to finish foam projects with Mod Podge for a smooth look, using foam clay to mold and fill in gaps for foam projects, and safety procedures in using heat gun to shape foam. * Class 5: Tips and tricks for styling cosplay wigs. * Classes 6–8: Lab time to work on your own cosplay projects with support and feedback.
Each student will meet with the instructor one on one to ensure they are going down the right path with their cosplay projects.
