Abstraction: Working Large

Abstract art is about expression. When life feels heavy, making something just for you can be the perfect release. If you want space to explore—but with guidance to help you along the way—this class is for you. 

Working on a large canvas, you’ll learn how to set up your workspace, choose materials, and create a dynamic background using some unexpected tools.  

From there, you’ll start to find your artistic voice through abstract techniques like mark making, playing with color value, building texture, layering collage, and shaping composition. 

You’ll also explore different ways to move a painting forward—and know when it’s done. 

Some basic experience with acrylic paint on canvas is required. 

This class is for ages 14 and up.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
