Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
During this uncertain time, we invite our furloughed friends and neighbors to gather, create, and connect. Take a breath, slow down, and find a bit of calm through art as you design your own barn quilt.
Barn quilts trace their roots back more than 300 years, when European settlers in America began painting quilt patterns on barns to honor loved ones, ward off bad luck, and help travelers find their way. Today, they remain a vibrant symbol of comfort, craftsmanship, and community.
In this workshop, you’ll choose from a selection of quilt patterns and paint your own design using 2–3 colors. You don’t need to be an artist—just come paint, connect, unwind, and recharge—creativity and community can carry us through anything.
