Introduction to Cyanotype Workshop

Instructor:

Maria Soboleva

Do you love blue? Discover the art of making cyanotype prints in this hands-on-workshop designed for anyone to enjoy. Students will learn how to create unique blue prints of plant cuttings, objects, and photos to take home. These prints will be made with the power of the sun!
(If it is rainy, we will use a UV lamp which works too!) Through guided instruction, students will become familiar with using cyanotype solution, including safety tips, how to coat base materials, how to expose provided objects and photo negatives, and lastly how to wash and dry cyanotype prints. You’ll explore how to prepare your paper, create prints, and take home your experiments.

This is a great opportunity to explore a timeless craft while developing a new creative skill. All materials are provided, just bring your imagination! If there is a particular plant or object you would like to create a print of, please feel free to bring it with you.

This Center for Craft Studies program is made possible in part by a generous grant from the Windgate Foundation.

This class is for ages 14 and up.

Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list needed accommodations.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
