Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
This course begins with painting fundamentals and teaches you how to work in Jay Durrah’s abstract portrait style.
You’ll explore painting materials alongside foundational art elements like color, line, shape, and form. Then lessons shift to portrait tools—grid drawing, shading, and different ways to paint facial features.
The focus is on practicing portrait painting, not perfecting it. By the end, you’ll bring these techniques together to create your own self-portrait.
This class is for ages 14 and up.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
