Community Art

Community Art Project with Steve Prince

The 11th Annual Rockville Arts Festival will be held Saturday, May 6-Sunday, May 7 in Rockville Town Square.

We’re excited to announce our collaboration with renowned mixed media artist and master printmaker Steve Prince, Director of Engagement and Distinguished Artist in Residence at the Muscarelle Museum of Art at William and Mary.

Visitors are invited to collaborate with Prince on an art project that highlights how shared creativity leads to inclusivity. Participants will paint a puzzle piece and Prince will fit it into his design to create a unique work of art that reflects Montgomery County’s diverse community.

Prince’s practice focuses on social justice. His work has been shown in solo, group, and juried exhibitions around the world. He’s also an in-demand lecturer and educator who’s conducted workshops across the globe.

Prince has a BFA from Xavier University of Louisiana and an MFA from Michigan State University. He’s a 2020 recipient of a Virginia Museum of Fine Arts grant and has participated in several residencies, including Segura Arts Center at Notre Dame University, Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, the Atlanta Printmakers Studio, and the University of Iowa.
