Art Instructor

VisArts is looking for visual art instructors with an interest in multicultural curricula for our thriving DMV art center. We work with artists/instructors of all experience levels and can provide support for beginning teachers as well. Bilingual teachers are encouraged to apply, particularly those with Spanish and Chinese fluency. Hourly rates begin at $23 an hour and go up depending on experience. Degrees and teaching certificates are not required.

Camp Instructor

Job Summary

A VisArts Summer Camp Instructor will be responsible for inspiring the development of each student’s creative expression through a variety of visual arts.Teachers will use their artistic skills and experiences to assist students in their development of aesthetic understanding and appreciation, and to guide them as they develop talents in the field of art. 

Teachers should have some experience working with children and teens ages 5 to 17 in at least one of the following media: painting and drawing, ceramics (both wheel and handbuilding), wood working, mixed medium, glass and mosaics. Assistant Camp Director

Job Summary:

The Assistant Camp Director will serve as assistant to the camp Director. They will provide support to the director as well as the rest of the office staff for the entirety of the summer. The ACD will oversee the Junior ACD’s providing guidance and support, in addition to monitoring and overseeing the volunteers.

Camp Volunteer Opportunities

Do you like working with children, and art? Then volunteering at a VisArts Art Camp might be a perfect fit and a great way to earn SSL hours.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, or entering high school. Summer camp volunteers must commit to at least one two-week session and hours.

Summer Volunteer hours are: Online Virtual Assistant – 9:45 am – 5:15 pm or On-Site  – 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Spring/Winter Volunteer hours are: TBA

The applicant will receive an email to set up an interview. Every applicant must interview with the Camp Director or Assistant Camp Director(s).

Summer Camp Internship

Want to gain work experience in a fun, relaxed but challenging environment?  VisArts’ Camp department is looking for someone that is organized, responsible, and has initiative. The intern will be an integral part of administrating Camp’s daily tasks. Applicants must be in or entering college. After we receive your application, we will contact you to come in for an interview. You will be contacted by email to set up an interview in early April between April  – Early June, 2021. Every intern must come in for an interview. 

Internships are at least 6 weeks (3 sessions) plus 3 weeks of training. Interns must complete 3 weeks of training before their starting camp session.

Some Responsibilities:

  • Being attentive and proactive
  • Helping with classroom set-up and clean up
  • Helping with arrival and dismissal
  • Volunteering for the entire duration of the session(s) selected/assigned to you

Mandatory Orientation/Training

All applicants must attend the mandatory orientation. In-depth details of camp, policies, rules, and facility tour will be given during orientation. Date of orientation will be sent to your email along with the scheduling of your interview. Orientation and training will be virtual and on-site

Summer Camp Media Internship

Looking to gain work experience in social media? Volunteer as a Summer Camp Media Intern. Intern must love working with children, is creative, writes well, and organized.

Responsibilities:

  • Applicants must be in or entering college
  • Taking pictures to be used for advertising
  • Creating posts for social media
  • Editing and organizing photos for online formats
  • Volunteering for the entire duration of the session(s) selected/assigned to you

After receiving the completed form, we will contact you to come in for an interview. You will be contacted by email to set up an interview in early April for dates between April 14 – June 1 , 2020. All applicants must come in for an interview.

Internships are at least 6 weeks (3 Sessions) plus 1-2 weeks of training. Interns must complete 1-2 weeks of training before starting camp.

Mandatory Orientation

All applicants must attend the mandatory orientation. In depth details of camp, policies, rules, and facility tour will be given during orientation. Date of orientation will be sent to your email along with the scheduling of your interview. Orientation is usually scheduled during the last week of school for MCPS.
