1. What types of groups can participate in the tours?
Our guide-led gallery tours are perfect for a variety of groups, including schools, corporate or nonprofit teams, book clubs, mahjong and bridge clubs, men’s and women’s clubs, temple and church groups, art and history enthusiasts, seniors, and more. Since the tours are conversational, they aren’t ideal for children under six—but stay tuned for future offerings designed especially for younger visitors!
2. Are the tours free?
Yes! Our private gallery tours are always free.
3. Do you accept walk-ins?
Private tours must be scheduled in advance.

5. When do the tours take place?
- Tours are available during gallery hours:
- Tuesday-Thursday: 12–4 PM

- Saturday-Sunday: 12–4 PM
Additional times may be arranged on a case-by-case basis, depending on guide availability.
6. How far in advance should tours be booked?
We recommend booking at least one week before your desired date. Since we offer a limited number of tours each year, early booking is encouraged.
7. What can we expect from the tour?
Tours include engaging discussions where you’ll learn how to view art with fresh eyes and think about your surroundings from an artistic perspective. Expect group activities, thought-provoking questions from your guide, and a memorable experience!
8. Is there a maximum group size?
Groups are capped at 20 visitors. For groups larger than 10, we’ll split into two smaller groups to ensure a personalized experience. For school groups over 20 students, please contact Gabriel Soto at gsoto@visartscenter.org or 301.315.8200 x105.
9. Are the tours accessible to individuals with disabilities?
Our galleries are wheelchair-accessible. For other disabilities or sensory needs, let us know in advance, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your group.
10. What should we bring on the tour?
Bring curiosity and an open mind! VisArts provides all materials. Please note that food and drinks aren’t allowed in the galleries.
11. How long do tours last and how many galleries will we visit?
Tours typically last about an hour and may include any combination of our onsite galleries (Gibbs Street, Kaplan, Concourse, Common Ground) and the 355 POD Space Gallery (355 Hungerford Drive). Contact Gabriel Soto gsoto@visartscenter.org or 301.315.8200 x105 if you’re interested in a longer tour
12. Can we combine the tour with an art activity?
Tours don’t include an art-making activity, but we’d be happy to help you plan one! Contact Education Director Emily Fucello at efucello@visartscenter.org for information.
13. What age groups are tours best for?
Tours are designed for ages 6 and up.
14. What if we need to cancel or reschedule?
