This project is based on a famous painting by the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, who painted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The “Zentangle” is an art form popular in recent years. The subject matter is divided into sections, as you can see in this sample, and each section is completely filled with a small design element that is repeated, such as a spiral. In this project, we can provide an interesting contrast by using colored pencils to color the lady’s face only (optional).

Materials Needed:

  • Fine and medium black sharpie markers
  • A heavy-weight white drawing paper, such as the Strathmore 400 series.
  • Pencil
  • Eraser.
  • Set of colored pencils (Prismacolor or Lyra brands recommended)

Instruction will be provided through the Zoom platform. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download zoom on their computer, phone, or tablet. Once you register for the class, you will be sent an e-mail with the Zoom URL to log in to the class. Please provide a correct and viable e-mail address when registering as this is how you receive your link.

Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list any accommodations you will need during the class.
