This three-week online class will explore the importance of trimming the thrown form to complete the piece structurally and aesthetically. The importance of the finishing of a wheel thrown work by turning the foot and the trimming of excess clay to refine the form is often overlooked and details of trimming can enhance or destroy the structural integrity of the form. Students should have soft leatherhard (not sticky) thrown bowls, plates and or vases ready for each class. If students do not have access to these forms, the class will still be of value as a lecture and demonstration experience to enhance their skills.
This class is for students at the advanced beginner and above level. Clay is not included with the registration but finished greenware and glaze work may be brought to and picked up from VisArts using our weekly sign-up. Only students enrolled in an online class will be allowed to use the pick-up and drop-off schedule.
All virtual classes are based in Zoom. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download Zoom on their computer, phone or tablet. Access to the Zoom classroom will be made available after registration.
