Take your first steps into the world of oils with our new still life painting class! In this 8-week course, students will learn the foundational skills of painting:
- Composition
- Drawing
- Shading
- Color Theory
This class is designed to introduce these principles to complete beginners and serve as a refresher course for more experienced painters that want to revisit the basics. It will also teach different ways of handling oil paint, giving the student the skills and techniques to manipulate this rich medium with confidence and creative ease.
Students will create two still life paintings, each one taking 4 classes to complete. Throughout the process and step by step, they will receive both group and individual instruction from their teacher in the form of presentations, demonstrations, and one-on-one coaching. The goal will be to take the complex nature of oil painting and simplify it into basic steps that the beginner can understand and follow through without feeling overwhelmed by the medium and process. At the end of the class, we will have a review of the students’ progress through group and teacher feedback.
This class is for ages 14 and up.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
