Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
Have you ever been intimidated by the blank pages in your sketchbook? Do you ever struggle to find inspiration or materials to express your ideas, thoughts, and emotions? In this course, learn more about yourself and your artistic process to create a full body of work, contained in a book handmade by you!Â
Each week will build upon the skills gained as you learn the history of bookmaking and how to choose the papers, binding technique, and aesthetic for your book. We’ll also explore popups, paper cutting, folding, and more. Once you make your book, you’ll use inspiring prompts to write, draw, paint, and collage.
The goal of this class is to provide artists of all backgrounds with new ways to express themselves and maintain a solid workflow.
This course is designed for ages 14+. We welcome students of all skill and experience levels. The class requires fine motor skills, but we can provide alternative assignments and make accommodations; please let us know what you’ll need in the Notes section when you register.
