This is a beautiful and fun project that may appeal to those who don’t feel confident yet in their drawing skills, but yet would love to make a decorative wall piece suitable for framing.

Students will have the choice of using a combination of pre-printed decorative papers, their own painted papers, or fabric scraps, which will be collaged onto an illustration board. Accents of gold glitter glue and gold paint will complete the piece.

At the start of class students will be shown some collages of found memorabilia and colored patterned paper on wood created by Picasso and Georges Braque at the turn of the 20th century, along with some similar works completed in our teen summer camp in years past. The project will be a base of white illustration board with fabric scraps adhered with Elmer’s glue, and finally, gold or silver glitter glue for the outlining (please see sample). Students could be encouraged to bring in any favorite fabric scraps of their own, for the project. Once the basic shapes are drawn in pencil on tracing paper, students can cut these out (similar to a sewing pattern) while layering on the fabric piece they desire. The moon can be left as negative white space.

Please use the Notes section during registration to list any accommodations.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
