“Learning by doing” could be the motto of this series, which we are offering again to adults online at VisArts. In the course we will be talking about four illustrators’ styles (and comparing them to the others’) , the color palettes, and the materials. Then students will interpret part or all of the examples we focus on . The first illustrator will be Ernest H. Shepard, who illustrated A.A.Milne’s original Winnie the Pooh in pen and ink (shown) as well as others by the author.
Materials Needed:
-High quality watercolor set (Pelikan brand recommended)
-2-3 watercolor brushes, one round and one narrow flat
-NuPastels are recommended (hard, thin pastels by Prismacolor)
-Micron pen (size 08)
-Watercolor paper (11″x14″)
-Blue colored pencil (Conte a Paris brand recommended)
-Pencil and eraser
-Scrap paper
-Paper towels
-Water cup
This class is for ages 14 and up.
Instruction will be provided through the Zoom platform. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download zoom on their computer, phone, or tablet. Once registered, students will be sent an e-mail with the Zoom URL to log in to the class. Please provide a viable e-mail address when registering as this is how the link will be sent.
