Pochoir, the French word for “stencil”, was popularized in the 1920s to 1930s by French artists as a response to the poor quality of color done by machines. In the duration of the class, students will learn the history of pochoir and experiment with color to make their own handmade stencils. Through the different techniques implemented in pochoir, students can create interesting effects on top of already existing images or create new compositions.
This class is for ages 14 and up.
This class is specially priced as part of VisArts’ Emerging Teacher Mentorship Program.
