This 12-week course is offered as part of VisArts Center for Craft Studies program and its registration is underwritten in part by the Windgate Foundation. The course provides a foundation in a wide variety of paper crafting methodologies and introduces a range of genres within the realm of paper crafts. While cultivating a respect for craft, students create functional or nonfunctional objects and explore paper materials as an art form.

Creative design and artisanship are emphasized. Projects include paper cutting, pop-up cards and books, papier mâché sculpture, mixed media collage, relief sculpture, and a variety of paper lantern designs.
