This class is a great way to expose students of any age to the traditional arts. At the beginning of each class meeting, techniques will be demonstrated. This will be including pan and tube watercolors with brushes, watercolor pencils, and acrylic paints. They will learn which brushes are appropriate for each, the preferred way to hold a brush, to make strokes, and how to properly clean a brush. We will open each class by showing the work of former VisArts students as well as the work of well-known artists, past and present, who worked with the art materials we will use in each different class session. Students will also learn, in age-appropriate lessons, some basic ways to set up a composition, whether it be still life, landscape, interior, or cityscape.

We encourage independence with our youngest learners; all children’s classes are designed to be drop-off only. Grown-ups are not permitted to stay in the classroom with their children.

Please use the Notes section during registration to list any accommodations your child may need during the class.
