Coil, slab and pinch construction is covered in this five-week zoom course. The techniques learned during this course can be expanded to many different projects. For this course it is suggested that you have some type of clay knowledge, whether that is prior handbuilding or wheel experience. During the five week class students will learn how to make pinch pot jars, coil planters, slab mugs and surface decoration.

Students should have an xacto knife (or similar), scoring tool (needle tool, plastic knife, serrated rib, etc), paint brush, cardboard or other work surface, paint brush, sponge, pencil, small water container, rolling pin & spacers (can be made from broken plastic hangers, paint stir sticks, etc), metal or plastic rib, pouncer (we can discuss how to make this), paddle (or wooden spoon), plastic bags for wrapping.

Clay may be bought online and finished greenware and glaze work may be brought to and picked up from VisArts using our weekly sign-up. Only students enrolled in an online class will be allowed to use the pick-up and drop-off schedule.

All virtual classes are based in Zoom. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download Zoom on their computer, phone or tablet. Access to the Zoom classroom will be made available after registration.

Students may purchase clay materials here and sign up for pick up and drop off times here.
