The red panda drawing shown is a detail from a piece created by an adult student in our last series.
To have some background before starting work, layering techniques will be demonstrated in the first 15-20 minutes, (please plan on arriving 5 minutes early). Students will practice color blending and line work. We will look at the work of artist Katherine Tyrell who has mastered this medium and has written books and has organized international groups of artists who gather to work “en plein air.”
Past students are welcome!
Class #1: Meerkat in
Class #2: Llama
Class #3: Monkey (mother and baby)
In all of the classes, we will be using toned charcoal paper (also called “pastel paper” ). The sketch outlines of the basic anatomy shapes will be done with white pastel pencil, which can be rubbed off easily later. We will check in with everyone in the group halfway through with room for questions and comments. Drawing fur is much easier when one starts with a base middle tone. In this way the highlights done in white bring it to life!
This class is for ages 14 and up.
Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list any accommodations you will need during the class.
Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
