In this class, students will be introduced to an artist each week and learn about their individual styles to influence their own creations.
- They will learn about the styles of Eric Carle, Alma Thomas, Henri Matisse, Paul Klee, Yayoi Kusama, and Joan Mitchell.Â
- They will learn about primary, secondary, analogous, and complementary colors and create their own color palettes to make their own abstract art.Â
- Students will learn about relationships between shapes and patterns and how to create abstract art using bold color and methodologies.Â
- Examples of unique art they will create are paintings, paper cut collages, and prints.
We encourage independence with our youngest learners; all children’s classes are designed to be drop-off only. Grown-ups are not permitted to stay in the classroom with their children.Â
Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list any accommodations you will need during the class.
This class is specially priced as part of VisArts’ Emerging Teacher Mentorship Program (ETMP), a supported program designed for artists who are training to become teachers. This course and curriculum were written under the guidance of the VisArts Education Staff.
