In this class, students will explore their identity, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and individuality while examining various styles of portraiture and getting inspired by artists like Frida Kahlo, Kehinde Wiley, Vincent Van Gogh, Yayoi Kusama, Pablo Picasso, and more.
Students will learn about facial composition, including how to examine faces and convey unique facial features, and experiment with using color, shapes, and patterns in reimagined ways. They will also engage in discussion and/or writing, gain insight into how they see themselves, and use a variety of techniques to create self-portraits in their own unconventional style.
Along the way, students will become empowered, build confidence, and develop a positive self-image.
Children under 13 must be dropped off and picked up at their classroom by a parent or caregiver.Â
Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list accommodations needed during the class.
Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
