Overview

VisArts Summer Camp will continue to require masks for ALL campers, staff, and volunteers throughout summer camp 2021.

VisArts Camp is back, and we can’t wait to get started! With a new and improved camp that prioritizes health and safety without sacrificing the fun and creativity our award-winning program is known for. VisArts camp, open to students ages 6 - 12, will use a pod system for camp; children will attend class and eat lunch with students in their pod only. Other health and safety procedures, including wearing masks and maintaining social distance, will be enforced. For more details on our health and safety policy please check the helpful links below.

Students will be assigned one classroom throughout their session, where they will attend all their classes. Classes will be divided into groups based on age and each student will receive their own materials that they will use throughout the session. Each two-week session will bring new projects and art adventures taught by our experienced teachers. Please note, camp will run from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM this summer with the exception of the Wheel Intensive from June 21st - July 2nd.

Examples of possible media in each two-week session:

  • Painting & drawing: Campers will learn the fundamentals of several painting and drawing techniques, including acrylic painting, watercolors, charcoal, oil pastels and more.

  • Mixed media: A little of this and a little of that. Students will let their creativity soar during mixed media classes, where the only limit is their imagination. 3-D recycle projects, mosaics, and jewelry making are only some of the fun things they may be doing in this class.

  • Glass: Campers will learn about the art of fused glass to create delicately beautiful pieces. Students will learn about the different tools and processes that go into making fused glass art.

  • Clay: Students will get their hands dirty learning about the world of clay! Campers will create projects using stoneware, polymer, and air dry clay as well as a variety of different handbuilding and wheel techniques.
