Leave a Legacy and Make a Difference!

Leave a Legacy

Your gift has a direct impact on artists, curators, students, instructors, campers, volunteers, interns, and partner organizations – and makes it possible for VisArts to offer more than $40,000 in financial assistance to community members in need each year.

Create a lasting legacy with a gift to VisArts!

A legacy gift (also referred to as a planned or deferred gift) is any leadership gift you make during your lifetime or upon your death to non-profits that share your values and speak to your heart – like VisArts.

Everyone can afford legacy giving, because you can maximize your gift and minimize your estate and income taxes – without affecting your current financial security.

VisArts benefits from your legacy gift because we can better plan for our long-term sustainability while furthering our mission to transform individuals and communities through the visual arts.

What Kind of Legacy Gift Can I Make?

Bequests by will, trust, or life insurance policy are the simplest ways to make a legacy gift to VisArts. If you would like to make a bequest, your attorney may find the following language helpful:

I hereby give, devise, and bequeath (a dollar amount, or all or a percentage of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate) to The Metropolitan Center for the Visual Arts (VisArts), Tax ID 52-1549839, now or formerly in the City of Rockville, 155 Gibbs Street, Suite 300, in the State of Maryland, Zip Code 20850, Telephone 301.315.8200, for its general purposes.

Other kinds of legacy gifts include charitable remainder trusts, appreciated securities or stock, and appreciated personal property or real estate.

How Do I Make My Legacy Gift?

To make the best decision for you, your family, and VisArts, consult a legal, tax, or financial advisor. If you or your advisor would like to discuss legacy giving, please contact Elizabeth Stern Lukin, Director of Individual Philanthropy, at esternlukin@visartscenter.org.
