Japhet Chukwuma

Japhet Chukwuma is a fine art and portrait artist based in Baltimore. His images address questions of identity, feelings of nostalgia, loss, wonder, and the full spectrum of human emotions. His atmospheric images often evoke a sense of melancholy and play with the temporal nature of time and memory. The artist uses a combination of both conventional, digital, and alternative processes, however his preferred method of working is with film and a medium format camera. The works of Carrie Mae Weems, Edward Weston, Gordon Parks, Edward Hopper, and Alfred Stieglitz are just a few of his artistic influences.
