Visual Art Journaling

Instructor:

Brian Williams

In this visual art journaling class, students will express themselves by creating works of art through painting techniques that become abstract, traditional, or a bit more.

We’ll focus on using art to dive deep within the soul, allowing us to release inner turmoil, struggles, pleasures, pain, happiness, and joys and place them on the canvas.

Week 1: INTRODUCTION: beginning the session with journaling and light drawing to illustrate expectations, current self, week, days, desire and more.
Week 2: AFFIRMATION ART: Using Paints, paint markers, Pens and “hello My name is” stickers to illustrate Affirmations of self for encouragement, beliefs, and growth.
Week 3: BOUNDARIES:  Creating artwork in which the individual will use a shape to create will be seen as a “boundary” of their environment. Doing this the individual will illustrate what boundaries look like to them to reflect upon for self.
Week 4: VISIONBOARD/ “MIRRORS ” : Creating artwork in which the individual will Paint a “mirror” on the canvas. This Project will inspire the individual  to create an Illustration of what they see for themselves from the past, the present, and future. It can be a self portrait or a painting of what they feel inspired by or using a magazine cut out to help.
Week 5: HIGH/ LOW: Creating work of art in which the individual will use warm and cool tone colors to illustrate high points of their week or day, as well as low points of a week or day.
Week 6: RECAP: A final recap of the entire class, reflecting on the past weeks and how things may have improved or inspired the individual and their growth. They may journal or paint what their thoughts or ideas are.

Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list any accommodations needed during the class.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
