Ceramic artists have used colored slips for centuries to decorate their ceramic work.  The possibilities are endless to what can be done with slip (colored clays in different consistencies).  Handbuilders and throwers alike will be able to utilize the methods learned to embellish and decorate their work.  Some of these  methods  include:   Sgriffito, mishima, marbling, slip trailing, brushwork, combing, finger swipes, hakeme, resists, layering and more.  The class will look at the work of other potters, then decorate their own work utilizing similar methods.

Clay may be bought online and finished greenware and glaze work may be brought to and picked up from VisArts using our weekly sign-up. Only students enrolled in an online class will be allowed to use the pick-up and drop-off schedule.

All virtual classes are based in Zoom. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download Zoom on their computer, phone or tablet. Access to the Zoom classroom will be made available after registration.

Students may purchase clay materials here and sign up for pick up and drop off times here.
