Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
Discover the art of surface design in ceramics with VisArts Faculty Member Gioconda (Gio) Padovan!
In this engaging demonstration, Gio will showcase painting techniques with different types of underglaze on both bisque-fired and greenware ceramics.
Attendees are welcome to watch, ask questions, and take notes as she shares her expertise in this free session.
This observation-only demonstration is offered in connection with VisArts (Kaplan Gallery, March 14-May 4, 2025)
Please note: This isn’t a hands-on workshop; participants won’t be creating anything.

About the Artist
Gioconda (Gio) Padovan is a graphic designer, ceramic artist, Spanish teacher, and creator by heart.
Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Gio has lived in Maryland since 2006 and loves to create art with children.
She says, “Working with children is to be and feel like a child again because they enjoy the process, are spontaneous, don’t see mistakes as a tragedy, and just flow and have fun – and when creating art, the most important thing is to have fun!”
