Have you marveled at an Indian Sari? Looked at a bold Indian pattern and wondered about how it was created?
In this weekend intensive, students will create a hand-dyed and printed textile. The artist/instructor will bring in woodblocks from her grandfather’s textile mill as part of a discussion about traditional indian textile woodblock creation and carving. During the first day students will learn about natural dyeing and will dye with Indigo. In the second session students will learn how to print using indian woodblocks and will work on design placement and actual printing.
