How to make a piece your own can be a confusing and frustrating experience. This 4-week class will cover a variety of techniques including resist with wax, latex, and paper, using stencils with underglaze, making sprig moulds, slips and altering forms with applied decorations. These techniques come with their own challenges and we will walk through them individually. Each class will introduce an idea and give you time to experiment. Each student will have access to a few test tiles, but they are expected to bring thrown or handbuilt forms to class to use as test subjects. Potters of all skill levels are welcome. Clay, lockers, and personal shelf space is not included, but students will have access to underglazes, slips, oxide washes, and other class materials.
