Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
In this class, students will begin by closely observing and drawing from a traditional still-life arrangement featuring rich colors, varied textures, and carefully composed objects. Through drawing, students will focus on proportion, value, line, and surface detail while developing a deeper understanding of observational skills.
Building on these drawings, students will then translate the still-life tableau into collage. Using a wide range of materials students will explore how color, texture, and shape can be reinterpreted and layered in new ways. This process encourages experimentation, material exploration, and creative problem-solving as we move from representation to abstraction while maintaining a connection to the original still life.
