In this 8-week class students will meet online every week with Xiaosheng Bi to extensively explore slab building, pinching and press mold techniques to make a functional teapot.

During the 8-weeks attention will be given to techniques for making the parts of the teapot, including the body, spout, handle and lid. Techniques that ensure each of the parts match each other will also be covered as well as attention to the balance between the functional and aesthetic of ceramic work. This class is for students who have experience with clay.

Clay is not included and it is suggested that students work in Frost clay for this project, while these techniques will also work with Little Loafers. Clay may be bought online, however currently we have no Frost due to supply chain disruptons . Please check the clay selection and we will reach out when we have Frost back in stock.

As part of the online registration finished greenware and glaze work may be brought to and picked up from VisArts using our weekly sign-up. Only students enrolled in an online class will be allowed to use the pick-up and drop-off schedule.

All virtual classes are based in Zoom. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download Zoom on their computer, phone or tablet. Access to the Zoom classroom will be made available after registration.

Students may purchase clay materials here and sign up for pick up and drop off times here.
