Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
This class is designed for students who are ready to take their ceramic work to the next level. Whether you’re a handbuilder or a wheel thrower, you’ll have the opportunity to apply and deepen the skills you’ve already developed to create more refined, personal, and unique pieces.
Through guided instruction and peer collaboration, you’ll learn how to plan and execute more intentional projects—from initial concept to final glazed work. Emphasis will be placed on developing your own artistic voice through experimentation, iteration, and thoughtful design.
You’ll also participate in regular group critiques, learning how to give and receive constructive feedback. This will help you refine your ideas and improve your techniques as you revisit and evolve your work over the course of the session.
This class is ideal for students who want to move beyond basic techniques and focus on pushing the boundaries of their creativity in clay.
Requisite: This class is designed for returning VisArts students or those who’ve completed our Beginning Handbuilding class. Students with a solid foundation in basic ceramic skills may also test into the class. If you’re brand new to clay, we recommend starting with Beginning Handbuilding and/or Beginning Wheel first.
This class is for students ages 14 and up.Â
Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list needed accommodations.Â
If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.Â
