Have you ever wanted feedback and guidance on a project? Do you feel like you have something you’re just not quite able to get across in your work? Do you want to feel comfortable talking about art knowledgeably at a museum or night out? This critique group is a way to help you reach your art goals, build community, and to help non-professional artists learn to talk about their work in a professional and organized manner. This class is not limited to one medium. Painters and ceramic students are welcome. Every person gets a chance to present, get feedback, and to generate an idea for what their next steps are to improve upon their work.
The first week students will critique a sample painting provided by the instructor and review elements of composition, color, movement, design, and concept. We will talk about preparing for a “critique” and how to interpret and use the feedback given. During the second and third weeks students will each have a chance to present their work and get feedback. The last session will focus on interpreting the feedback, and students will start making alterations on a project of their choice.
