In his recent abstract paintings, Paul Jeanes explores active processes: dripping, pouring, glazing and scraping in order to build paintings that visualize turbulent chromatic atmospheres where fleeting gestures are at once illuminated and obscured. In this process-driven approach, Jeanes is part color abstractionist and part quixotic alchemist, who instinctively sublimates thought with time and matter, to create his thinly layered hallucinatory paintings.
