“Abstract Expressionism” was a movement that developed in New York in the 1940s and 1950s that encompassed not only the work of artists who filled their canvases with fields of color and abstract forms, but also those who created paintings with a vigorous gestural expressionism. This workshop will use famous abstract expressionist paintings as inspiration for mixed media collages. Focus will be on combining found images in magazines with acrylic paints to create visually dynamic collaged works. Participants will learn traditional collaging techniques as well as about abstract expressionism.
