Painting (Ages 6-10)

Starting with the basics, with demonstrations at the start of each class, students can gain confidence in handling brushes and mixing colors. We will work with watercolors and acrylics, both of which wash off hands and off brushes with soap and water. It may be hard to get spills off clothing, so we provide aprons, and please have your children wear old clothes too, if possible.

Students in the course will be learning some art terms such as  tone, value, composition, contour, and how colors make up the sections of the “color wheel.” They will view reproductions of paintings of masters in the painting field in art history, as well as the work of students in prior classes! Our subjects will include leaves, flowers, veggies, fruit (real ones!), and landscapes of their own invention.

We encourage independence with our youngest learners; all children’s classes are designed to be drop off only. Children under 13 must be dropped off and picked up at their classroom by a parent or caregiver.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
