Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
Did you know that origami techniques can be used to create various inventions, like airbags and space telescopes? Whether you’re a longtime veteran or just starting out, this class is for anyone interested in learning more about the science, history, culture, math, and language(s) behind the art of paperfolding.
Once a month, students will make and dissect various types of origami figures, including but not limited to:
Cranes
Star boxes
Flapping birds
Puffy bunnies/snakes in a box
Shuriken (aka. ninja stars)
Cat heads
Samurai hats that can also be made into fishes
And more!
They will also have the opportunity to request certain figures not listed in the description before, during, and after classes.
While it’s one thing to follow along with the instructions of your favorite pieces, it’s another to understand how those pieces came to be. You never know if one of your favorite pieces today may serve as the inspiration to designing one of tomorrow’s inventions.
Students under 8 years old must attend with a REGISTERED adult.
Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list any accommodations you’ll need during the class.
Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed three days prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
