VisArts presents NextGen 5.0, a juried group exhibition that showcases next generation aspiring artists 17 to 27 years of age from the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. The annual exhibition offers young artists, who have little to no exhibition record, the opportunity to bring their work to a wider audience.

The exhibition is planned and realized by a dedicated team of gallery interns and volunteers with mentorship from the VisArts gallery staff. “Each year this exhibition reveals extraordinary, fresh, young creatives,“ says Susan Main, Gallery Director and Curator at VisArts. “A committed team of VisArts interns work together to make this exhibition happen. They are focused on bringing deserving artists and their work into the light of the community and learning how to shape an exciting exhibition.”

The NextGen 5.0 artists are: Akea Brown, Haoran Chang, Lily DeHart, Katie Delaney, Jessica Devilbiss, Aubrey Garwood, Lilia Gestson, Kevin Jijon-Gochez, Courtney Kasprzyk, Megan Koeppel, Charlotte Mann, Lucas Rougeux, Kim Sandara, and Munirah Smith-Gray.
