In this workshop students will explore mandala symbolism through the creation of ceramic plates in a variety of sizes, and then discover the patterning and print-making ability of highly textured objects impressed into the clay surfaces of their plates. After the bisque firing we will explore how to create layers of translucent color through the application of under-glazes, glazes, over-glaze stains, and colored glass to highlight the textural designs. Basic principles of color theory and sacred geometry will be introduced.
Students will need to use B-Mix or Little Loafers clay for this work.
