Students will create two 11″ x 14″ acrylic canvases in the quick spontaneous, layered style of hearts that painter Jim Dine has created in his career. He was born in 1935 and is world famous.
Students can choose to prepare one or both canvases with a background color of their choice before class. The goal is to experience the freedom of no restrictive outlines and to have fun. As they make the layers, one will be drying while the other is worked on.  Dine works in oils; while we have the limit of class time, students will work in the more quick-drying acrylics.
Materials:
– Small, medium and large acrylic brushes
– Plastic palette
– Water cup
– Paper plate
– Paper towels
– White or light blue oil pastel stick for sketching the outline of the hearts on the background (to be painted over)
– Affordable canvases can be found at the Michaels stores ( the “Artist Loft” brand), Plaza Art in Bethesda or Rockville,  or at www.blickartmaterials.com).
All virtual classes are based on Zoom. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download Zoom on their computer, phone, or tablet. Access to the Zoom classroom will be e-mailed the day before the class starts.

Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list any accommodations you will need during the class.
