Jim Dine Valentine Family Paint (Ages 8 and up)

The child or teen will pair up with a parent, grandparent, pibling, sibling, cousin, caregiver, or friend to paint a 16 x 20″ canvas super-sized Valentine with acrylics with a heart of their own design!

Participants will pick a background color, two other colors in the same family (warm or cool colors) and one accent color. How to care for brushes, and color mixing, will be demonstrated at the start of class. The canvas shown was painted by an adult student in a prior class using the background color of light blue with wisps of white and pink behind the heart. Then for the heart itself, the plum purple color for a background sets off the pink and red brushstrokes very well.

Jim Dine did most of his Heart series during the 1970’s, being one of the first American artists to use everyday things as subject matter in a bright, free and loose style. Even bathrobes! To view more of his work, one can visit the website www.artnet.com

This class is for ages 14 and up.
