The fluid nature of watercolor invites us to paint in a free and suggestive manner rather than be overwhelmed by detail. In this workshop, learn how to paint a loose, full-body silhouette intuitively in watercolor. We will begin by looking at the art of several artists who explore and celebrate the human form in their work.
Techniques, such as how to make a wash, control the paint, and make corrections, will all be covered. We will also discuss how and when to assert tighter control over the paint and when to let it go to facilitate the beautiful bleeds for which watercolor is so well known. While we work, we will also be exploring color and learning the various personalities inherent in each of the pigments. We will also translate the experience of being in poses we take ourselves in class onto paper.
All you need to bring is your intuitive sense of color — no experience necessary!
