Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
Discover the art of woodburning in this hands-on workshop designed for beginners and creative explorers alike. Students will learn the fundamentals of pyrography—the art of decorating wood using controlled heat—as they create their own custom design on a functional or decorative wooden item such as a spoon, tray, box, or wall hanging.
Through guided instruction, students will become familiar with using a pyrography tool, including safety tips, temperature control, and techniques for shading, outlining, and adding texture. You’ll explore how to transfer a design onto wood, practice on test pieces, and complete a finished piece to take home.
This is a great opportunity to explore a timeless craft while developing a new creative skill. All materials are provided—just bring your imagination! No prior experience required.
This class is for ages 14 and up.
