Introduction to Sewing

Instructor:

Cori Leyden-Sussler

Have you always wanted to learn how to sew but weren’t sure where to start? This class is designed just for you! Whether you’re completely new to sewing or looking to refresh your skills, we’ll guide you through all the basics you need to feel confident and creative at your sewing machine.

In this hands-on class, you’ll learn:

  • Essential sewing tools – Get familiar with the must-have items in your sewing kit, like scissors, measuring tape, pins, needles, and fabric markers.

  • Basic hand stitches – Practice simple stitches, which are great for quick fixes and decorative touches.

  • How to use a sewing machine – We’ll show you how to thread the machine, wind a bobbin, and sew straight lines and curves. You’ll learn how to troubleshoot common issues too.

By the end of the class, you’ll have completed a small project and gained the confidence to continue sewing on your own. No prior experience needed.

Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list any needed accommodations.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
