Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
Ready to sew but not sure where to start? This beginner-friendly course covers essential hand stitches for connecting and decorating fabric, plus the basics of using a sewing machine.
You’ll learn to sew straight and curved lines with control and practice simple techniques to create projects like patches, tote bags, and pencil cases.
Two sewing machines are available for in-class use, but feel free to bring your own!
This class is for ages 14 and up.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
