Gelliprints! It’s the new printmaking sensation that is sweeping the country. The system is composed of a flexible plate in a jelly-like material, a brayer, woodblock ink and it works best with paper that has some percent of rag content– most amazingly well with rice paper.
It is safe, non-toxic, and easy to clean up. Students will create textured backgrounds with found materials, and they can also make one-of-a-kind abstract or figurative compositions, With masking techniques that they can learn in the class, and layers of over-printing, the results are beautiful , and art students are motivated to do more, and learn more, about all the possibilities of this medium. Their favorite prints may be matted in the last class.
This class can be taken more than once as students have the option of continuing work in consecutive sessions.
