Introduction to Fiber Arts (Ages 6-10)

Instructor:

Erin Harrison

Join us for a fun and hands-on journey into the world of fiber arts! In this class, students will explore a variety of traditional and contemporary fiber techniques, learning how to transform simple materials into beautiful, handcrafted works of art.

Weekly Projects:

  • Week 1: Students will learn to weave and will create small tapestries.
  • Week 2: Students will learn the practice of wet felting (turning wool fibers into felt) and will create art pieces or felted beads.
  • Week 3: Students will learn shibori, a traditional Japanese dying practice, and will get to try out different methods on pieces of cloth.
  • Week 4: Students will learn basic embroidery techniques and then will create their own tapestries.

Children under 13 must be dropped off and picked up at their classroom by a parent or caregiver.

Please use the Notes section during registration to list any accommodations needed during the class.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
