Introduction to Drawing

This course is perfect for the beginner to intermediate drawer. The student will learn how to communicate with the eye and hand to make successful and accurate drawings. During the first half of the class the student will develop a basic understanding of drawing techniques using graphite, charcoal, and India ink.

 

Week One: Introduction to Graphite. Exploring a still life with Contour, Cross-Contour line studies. Drawing a value scale and exploring the element of art, Value.

Week Two: Drawing your eyeball from a mirror and life observation using graphite emphasizing Value

Week Three: Exploring the art of Jim Dine. Introduction to charcoal. Exploring your own tool inspired by Jim Dine investigating line and value.

Week Four: Exploring Drapery using Charcoal.

Week Five: India Ink Introduced. Mixed media study with your choice. A landscape or a tool with India Ink and charcoal.

 

This class is for ages 14+.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
