Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
If you’ve been wanting to revisit linocut printmaking—perhaps after a long break since trying it back in high school—this class series offers the perfect opportunity to dive back in. You’ll explore new carving and inking techniques using “SoftKut” blocks, which are much easier to work with than traditional linoleum, allowing for smoother carving and faster, more satisfying results. We work exclusively with high-quality inks and papers, because, as the saying goes, your results are only as good as the materials you use. There’s something deeply rewarding about reaching a level of comfort with the medium where you can produce multiple copies of an image you’re proud of—especially when you can turn them into meaningful handmade gifts or greeting cards that far surpass anything store-bought. In addition to technique, the class will also cover image composition, and you’ll gain inspiration from the work of both contemporary and historical printmakers. Whether you’re rediscovering the art form or refining your skills, this class is designed to spark creativity and build confidence in your printmaking practice.
This class is for ages 14 and up.
Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list needed accommodations.
Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
